The Sun Hydraulics NCECKBN (Material Number: NCECKBN) is a needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed to regulate flow through an adjustable orifice. This valve is infinitely adjustable from fully closed to its maximum orifice diameter, and it features an integral high-capacity check valve for unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. Notably, it is not pressure compensated. The product is interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, although extension dimensions may differ. Due to its non-compensating nature, the orifice size regulates flow proportionally to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The valve includes a balanced adjustment mechanism for easy adjustments even under high pressures and a sharp-edged orifice design that minimizes variations due to viscosity changes. It incorporates floating style construction to reduce internal part binding risks caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve fits into Cavity T-5A, Series 2, with a capacity of 3 gpm (11 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It has minimal leakage at maximum conditions and features an adjustment range requiring up to 5.5 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open. Additional specifications include a valve hex size of 1-1/8 inches, installation torque between 45 and 50 lbf-ft, an adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 inches, locknut hex size of 9/16 inches, and locknut torque between 80 and 90 lbf-in. The model weighs approximately .40 lb (.20 kg) and uses Viton seals with seal kit number: 990203006.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
