The Sun Hydraulics NCECKCV (Material Number: NCECKCV) is a needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed to provide precise flow regulation. This fully adjustable orifice allows for smooth flow control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that ensures unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, although it is not pressure compensated. The valve's design includes a balanced adjustment mechanism, facilitating easy adjustments even under high pressures. Its sharp-edged orifice minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. This product is part of the 2-port flow control cartridge series, which are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size for a given frame size, though extension dimensions may vary. The needle valve regulates flow based on the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2 due to its non-compensating nature. The Sun floating style construction helps reduce the risk of internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations. The NCECKCV has a capacity of 3 gpm (11 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It allows for up to 55 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to fully open positions. The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is minimal at just 5 drops/min (0.3 cc/min). Installation requires specific torques: valve installation torque ranges from 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm), and locknut torque ranges from 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .40 lb (.20 kg) and uses Viton seal kit number 990203006 for cartridge sealing.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
