The Sun Hydraulics NCECLAV (NCECLAV) is a versatile needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This component features an adjustable orifice, allowing for infinite control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter. A high-capacity check valve is integrated to ensure unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. While it offers significant control capabilities, it is important to note that this valve is not pressure compensated. The NCECLAV model can be interchanged with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, although extension dimensions may vary. Engineered with a balanced adjustment mechanism, this needle valve facilitates easy adjustments even under high-pressure conditions. The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to changes in fluid viscosity. Additionally, the Sun floating style construction reduces the risk of internal parts binding because of excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity and cartridge. The NCECLAV model fits into a T-5A cavity and has a capacity of 3 gpm (11 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It exhibits minimal leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt), with only up to 5 drops per minute. The adjustment mechanism allows for five full counterclockwise turns from fully closed to fully open, providing fine-tuned control over fluid flow. Installation requires specific torque settings: the valve hex size is 1-1/8 inches, necessitating an installation torque between 45 and 50 lbf ft; while the locknut requires a torque between 80 and 90 lbf in. Weighing only .40 lb (.20 kg), this needle valve includes Viton seals for enhanced durability and performance in demanding applications.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
