The Sun Hydraulics NCECYBV (NCECYBV) is a needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed to provide precise flow regulation through its fully adjustable orifice. This valve is ideal for applications requiring controlled flow adjustments, as it allows infinite adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that enables unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. Notably, this needle valve is not pressure compensated, meaning the fixed orifice size regulates flow in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The design incorporates a balanced adjustment mechanism for easy handling, even under high pressures. The sharp-edged orifice minimizes flow variations due to changes in fluid viscosity. Additionally, the Sun floating style construction reduces the risk of internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity-cartridge interface. This two-port flow control cartridge is physically and functionally interchangeable with others of the same frame size, though extension dimensions may vary from the mounting surface. The NCECYBV model fits into a T-5A cavity and has a capacity of 3 gpm (11 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Valve leakage is minimal at 5 drops/min (0.3 cc/min) when using oil with a viscosity of 110 SUS (24 cSt). The adjustment range is from fully closed to fully open across five counterclockwise turns. Installation specifications include a valve hex size of 1-1/8 inches and an installation torque range of 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm), with additional details provided for locknut and screw adjustments. The model weighs approximately 0.40 lb (0.20 kg) and uses Viton seals as part of its construction.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
