The Sun Hydraulics NCECYDV (Material Number: NCECYDV) is a needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This component features an adjustable orifice that allows for infinite adjustments from fully closed to the maximum diameter, enabling tailored flow rates based on specific system requirements. The integrated high-capacity check valve ensures unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, although the valve is not pressure compensated. It is designed for interchangeability across all 2-port flow control cartridges of similar frame sizes, ensuring compatibility in various applications despite potential differences in cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface. The needle valve operates by regulating flow proportional to the square root of the pressure differential across its ports due to its non-compensating nature. Its balanced adjustment mechanism facilitates easy modifications even under high-pressure conditions, while the sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations caused by changes in fluid viscosity. Sun's floating style construction reduces the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. Key specifications include a cavity T-5A, series 2 capacity of 3 gpm (11 L/min), and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve exhibits minimal leakage at 5 drops/min (0.3 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). It allows up to five and a half counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open positions. The installation torque ranges between 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm), and it features a hex size of 1-1/8 inches with an internal hex adjustment screw size of 5/32 inches. The locknut requires a torque of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .40 lb (.20 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for optimal performance and durability.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
