The Sun Hydraulics NCFBHAV (NCFBHAV) is a needle valve with reverse flow check, designed to provide fully adjustable orifices for precise flow regulation. This model features an integral high-capacity check valve that allows unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, making it suitable for applications requiring bidirectional flow control. The valve is not pressure compensated, meaning the fixed orifice size regulates flow in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. Despite this, the balanced adjustment mechanism ensures ease of operation even under high pressures. The NCFBHAV model incorporates a sharp-edged orifice design to minimize flow variations due to changes in fluid viscosity, enhancing its reliability in various operating conditions. It utilizes Sun's floating style construction, which reduces the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity-cartridge interfaces. This cartridge is compatible with a T-16A cavity and offers a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Additional specifications include a maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) of 10 drops/min (0.7 cc/min), and an adjustment range spanning up to 5.5 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open. The valve's installation requires a torque of 150 - 160 lbf ft (203 - 217 Nm), while adjustments can be made using an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The locknut hex size measures at 9/16 inches (15 mm), with a locknut torque specification between 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg) and comes with Viton seal kits available under part number: 990-016-006.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
