The Sun Hydraulics NCFBYEV (NCFBYEV) is a needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed for precise flow regulation. This fully adjustable orifice allows for infinite adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it highly versatile for various applications. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that ensures unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. However, it is important to note that this valve is not pressure compensated. The NCFBYEV model is interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, sharing the same flow path and cavity dimensions, although extension dimensions may differ. The valve uses a balanced adjustment mechanism that facilitates easy adjustments even under high pressure conditions. Its sharp-edged orifice design helps minimize variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. The floating style construction minimizes the risk of internal parts binding, which can occur due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge. This model fits into a Cavity T-16A Series 3 and has a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min). It can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has minimal leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt), limited to 10 drops/min (0.7 cc/min). The adjustment range spans from fully closed to fully open over approximately 5.5 counterclockwise turns. For installation, the recommended torque values are between 150 and 160 lbf ft (203 - 217 Nm), while the locknut should be torqued between 80 and 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm). The valve weighs approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg) and utilizes Viton seals with part number 990-016-006 for maintenance purposes.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
