The Sun Hydraulics NCFCHAV (NCFCHAV) is a versatile needle valve with reverse flow check designed to regulate hydraulic flow efficiently. This component features an infinitely adjustable orifice, allowing precise control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter. It includes an integral high-capacity check valve that permits unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. While the valve is not pressure compensated, it offers a balanced adjustment mechanism for easy operation even under high pressures. The sharp-edged orifice design ensures minimal flow variation due to changes in viscosity, and the Sun floating style construction reduces the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. The NCFCHAV model is compatible with all 2-port flow control cartridges, maintaining interchangeability in terms of flow path and cavity size within a given frame size, although extension dimensions may vary. It has a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to five drops per minute (0.3 cc/min). The adjustment mechanism allows for up to five counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open position. For installation, the valve requires a hex size of 1 1/4 in. (31.8 mm) and an installation torque between 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm). Its adjustment screw uses an internal hex size of 5/32 in. (4 mm), while the locknut has a hex size of 9/16 in. (15 mm) with a torque range of 80-90 lbf in. (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg), and it is available with Viton seal kits for enhanced durability and performance under various conditions.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
