The Sun Hydraulics NCFCHEN (NCFCHEN) is a versatile needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed to provide precise flow regulation. This fully adjustable orifice allows for adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it suitable for various applications requiring controlled fluid flow. The valve features an integral high-capacity check valve that permits unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1 but is not pressure compensated. All 2-port flow control cartridges are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size for a given frame size, though extension dimensions may vary. The needle valve operates as a non-compensating device, regulating flow proportionally to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The NCFCHEN model incorporates a balanced adjustment mechanism that facilitates easy adjustments even under high-pressure conditions. Its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. Additionally, the floating style construction reduces the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), this model is robust and reliable. Physical specifications include a valve hex size of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and an installation torque requirement between 150 - 160 lbf ft (203 - 217 Nm). The adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), while the locknut requires a torque between 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm). Weighing at approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg), it also includes a Viton seal kit with part number: 990016006 for secure sealing performance.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
