The Sun Hydraulics NCFCLBV (NCFCLBV) is a versatile needle valve with reverse flow check, designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve is fully adjustable, offering infinite control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, and features an integral high-capacity check valve that allows unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. Notably, it is not pressure compensated. The NCFCLBV is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, although cartridge extension dimensions may vary. It operates by regulating flow in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2 due to its non-compensating nature. The balanced adjustment mechanism facilitates easy adjustments even at high pressures, while the sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations caused by changes in fluid viscosity. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve fits a T-16A cavity and has a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It has minimal leakage at maximum conditions, only allowing up to five drops per minute at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The adjustment range spans up to five and a half counterclockwise turns from fully closed to fully open. Installation requires specific torques: a valve hex size of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) with an installation torque between 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), an adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm) with a torque requirement of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for reliable performance under various conditions.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
