The Sun Hydraulics NCGBHDN (NCGBHDN) is a needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed for precise flow regulation. This valve is fully adjustable from closed to its maximum orifice diameter, allowing for fine-tuned control of fluid flow. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that permits unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1 but is not pressure compensated. All two-port flow control cartridges are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity for a given frame size, although the extension dimensions may vary from the mounting surface. The NCGBHDN's non-compensating nature means the fixed orifice size regulates flow based on the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The valve incorporates a balanced adjustment mechanism, facilitating easy adjustments even under high pressures. Its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. Cartridges with EPDM seals are suitable for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The Sun floating style construction reduces the risk of internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This Series 4 cartridge fits into Cavity T-18A and has a capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It has minimal leakage rates and offers up to 5.5 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open settings. The NCGBHDN requires specific installation torques and comes equipped with Viton seal kits as standard, weighing approximately 3 lbs (1.35 kg).

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
