The Sun Hydraulics NCGBHEV (NCGBHEV) is a needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed to provide fully adjustable flow regulation. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that allows for unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, although it is not pressure compensated. The valve is part of the 2-port flow control cartridge family and is interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size, though extension dimensions may vary. Its sharp-edged orifice design helps minimize flow variations due to viscosity changes, and its balanced adjustment mechanism ensures easy adjustments even under high pressures. The valve is suitable for systems with phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals, but exposure to petroleum-based fluids should be avoided as it can damage the seals. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve provides robust performance in demanding applications. The maximum leakage rate is minimal at 10 drops/min (0.7 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The model weighs approximately 3 lbs (1.35 kg) and requires an installation torque between 350 - 375 lbf ft (474 - 508 Nm). The adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), while the locknut hex size is 9/16 inches (15 mm), requiring a torque of 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm). This model provides precise control over hydraulic systems where variable flow rates are essential.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
