The Sun Hydraulics NCGBKEN (NCGBKEN) is a needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve is fully adjustable, allowing for infinite control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that permits unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, although it is not pressure compensated. The NCGBKEN is part of the Sun Hydraulics series of 2-port flow control cartridges, which are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size. However, the extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary depending on the cartridge. The valve operates by regulating flow through a fixed orifice size proportional to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2, due to its non-compensating nature. It includes a balanced adjustment mechanism for easy manipulation even under high pressures and a sharp-edged orifice design that reduces flow variations caused by viscosity changes. The cartridge employs Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding issues due to installation torque or machining variations. It is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as this will damage the seals. The NCGBKEN has a capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's leakage rate at standard conditions is minimal, at just 10 drops/min (0.7 cc/min). Installation requires specific torques for various components, ensuring secure fitting and optimal performance.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
