The Sun Hydraulics NCGBYDV (NCGBYDV) is a high-performance needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed to provide precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve features an adjustable orifice that allows for infinite control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it ideal for applications requiring precise flow adjustments. It includes an integral high-capacity check valve that enables unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, although it is not pressure compensated. The NCGBYDV is part of Sun's interchangeable 2-port flow control cartridges, offering the same flow path and cavity compatibility across different frame sizes. The valve operates based on the square root of the pressure differential between ports 1 and 2, thanks to its non-compensating design. A balanced adjustment mechanism ensures easy operation even under high pressures, while the sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to changes in fluid viscosity. It incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction, reducing the risk of internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a cavity size of T-18A and a series 4 capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), this model can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The NCGBYDV has minimal leakage rates and features various hex sizes for ease of installation and adjustment. It is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they may damage the seals. Weighing approximately 3 pounds (1.35 kg), this needle valve offers robust performance for demanding hydraulic applications.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
