The Sun Hydraulics NCGCHEV (NCGCHEV) is a needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed to provide precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve features an adjustable orifice that allows for infinite adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it suitable for applications requiring variable flow control. It incorporates an integral high-capacity check valve that enables unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. This model is not pressure compensated, meaning the fixed orifice size controls flow in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The NCGCHEV is part of Sun's Series 4 cartridges, offering a capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) and capable of handling a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Its design includes a sharp-edged orifice that minimizes flow variations due to changes in fluid viscosity, and a balanced adjustment mechanism for ease of use even at high pressures. The floating style construction helps prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges in its series, though extension dimensions may vary. It has specific installation requirements including a torque specification of 350-375 lbf ft (474-508 Nm) and features such as an internal hex adjustment screw size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The valve also includes corrosion-resistant zinc-nickel plating and Viton seals for enhanced durability in demanding environments. The model weighs approximately 3 pounds (1.35 kg) and uses seal kit number 990018006 for maintenance purposes.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
