The Sun Hydraulics NCGCYAV (NCGCYAV) is a needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve is fully adjustable from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, allowing for fine-tuned control of fluid flow. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that enables unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, making it versatile for various applications requiring controlled fluid dynamics. The valve is not pressure compensated, meaning the flow regulation depends on the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. With a balanced adjustment mechanism, it ensures easy handling even under high-pressure conditions. The NCGCYAV model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. Its sharp-edged orifice design reduces flow variations caused by changes in fluid viscosity, enhancing its reliability in different operational environments. The cartridge fits into a T-18A cavity and boasts a series 4 capacity of up to 30 gallons per minute (120 liters per minute) at a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's leakage rate is minimal at five drops per minute when using hydraulic oil with viscosity around 110 SUS (24 cSt). Key specifications include a hex size of 1-5/8 inches (41.3 mm), an installation torque range of 350 to 375 lbf-ft (474 to 508 Nm), and an adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The locknut hex size is 9/16 inches (15 mm) with a torque requirement of 80 to 90 lbf-in (9 to 10 Nm). Weighing in at approximately three pounds (1.35 kg), this robust needle valve also comes with an optional Viton seal kit for enhanced durability and performance in demanding conditions.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
