The Sun Hydraulics NFDDOGN (NFDDOGN) is a versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable valve allows for infinite control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, offering flexibility in various applications. It functions as both a flow control and shutoff valve but is not pressure compensated, meaning the flow regulation is dependent on the square root of the pressure differential between ports 1 and 2. The valve features a balanced adjustment mechanism that facilitates easy adjustments even under high pressures, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to changes in fluid viscosity. The NFDDOGN's bidirectional flow path is optimized for interchangeability with other flow controls when used from port 1 to port 2. Notably, there is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is set to the shutoff position. This model has a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It requires an installation torque of 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm) and features an internal hex size adjustment screw of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The locknut hex size is 9/16 inches (15 mm), with a locknut torque specification of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). Weighing just .60 lb (.30 kg), this needle valve offers robust performance without adding significant weight to your system. Additionally, it accommodates EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids, though caution must be taken as exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. With its high precision and reliability, the Sun Hydraulics NFDDOGN needle valve serves as an essential component for regulating hydraulic flows efficiently.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
