The Sun Hydraulics NFECLEE (NFECLEE) is a versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable orifice allows for seamless flow control, ranging from completely closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it suitable for various applications that require either flow control or shutoff functionality. Notably, this valve is not pressure compensated and maintains a bidirectional flow path, although the preferred direction is from port 1 to 2 to ensure compatibility with other flow control devices. The model features a balanced adjustment mechanism that facilitates easy adjustments even under high-pressure conditions, with no leakage when fully closed. Its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity, ensuring consistent performance. The NFECLEE model fits into a Cavity T-16A and boasts a series 3 capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) at a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Installation requires a valve hex size of 1-1/4 inches and an installation torque between 150 and 160 lbf ft. The adjustment screw features an internal hex size of 5/32 inches, while the locknut hex size is 9/16 inches, requiring a torque of 80 to 90 lbf in. For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, EPDM seals are recommended; however, these seals should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they may incur damage. The model weighs approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg) and can be configured with Viton seal kits for enhanced durability and performance in compatible systems.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
