The Sun Hydraulics NFECYFN (Material Number: NFECYFN) is a precision-engineered needle valve designed for regulating flow in hydraulic systems. This component features a fully adjustable orifice, allowing for precise control from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter. It is not pressure compensated, making it suitable for use as a flow control or shutoff valve. The NFECYFN model is part of the 2-port flow control cartridge series, ensuring physical and functional interchangeability with other cartridges of the same frame size, although extension dimensions may vary. The valve's design incorporates a balanced adjustment mechanism that facilitates easy adjustments even under high pressures. Its sharp-edged orifice minimizes flow variations caused by changes in fluid viscosity, and its bidirectional flow path\u2014preferably from port 1 to 2\u2014enhances compatibility with other flow controls. The valve ensures no leakage when fully shut off, providing reliable performance in various applications. Designed to handle a cavity T-16A Series 3 capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this needle valve supports robust hydraulic operations. It allows up to five and a half counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open positions and requires an installation torque between 150-160 lbf-ft (203-217 Nm). The adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), while the locknut has a hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm) requiring torque between 80-90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). Weighing approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg), the NFECYFN model also comes with Viton seal kits for enhanced durability in various fluid environments, excluding those containing petroleum-based substances which could damage EPDM seals.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
