The Sun Hydraulics NFECYFV (Material Number: NFECYFV) is a precision-engineered needle valve designed for regulating flow in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable orifice allows for infinite adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, providing versatility in flow control or shutoff applications. Notably, these needle valves are not pressure compensated, meaning the flow regulation is dependent on the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2, following the square root principle. The valve features a balanced adjustment mechanism that ensures ease of adjustment even under high-pressure conditions. Its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity, maintaining consistent performance. The NFECYFV model supports bidirectional flow paths, with a preferred direction from port 1 to port 2 to maintain interchangeability with other flow control devices. When the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shutoff position, there is no leakage, ensuring reliability and efficiency in operation. The cartridge comes configured with EPDM seals suitable for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. This model fits into a T-16A cavity and belongs to Series 3 with a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min) at its maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's dimensions include a hex size of 1-1/4 inches and an installation torque range of 150-160 lbf.ft (203-217 Nm). It also features an internal hex size for the adjustment screw of 5/32 inches and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inches with a torque requirement of 80-90 lbf.in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg) and utilizes Viton seal kits for durability and performance assurance.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
