The Sun Hydraulics NFEDHHE (Material Number: NFEDHHE) is a versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation. This fully adjustable orifice valve allows for infinite control from fully closed to maximum orifice diameter, making it ideal for applications requiring meticulous flow adjustments. The NFEDHHE model is not pressure compensated, which means it can be used effectively as a flow control or shutoff valve. It features bidirectional flow paths, with the preferred direction being port 1 to 2 to ensure compatibility with other flow controls. A balanced adjustment mechanism facilitates easy adjustments even under high pressure conditions, while the sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow caused by changes in fluid viscosity. Physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, the NFEDHHE offers flexibility in diverse applications. The cartridge extension dimensions may vary from the mounting surface, but this does not affect its interchangeability. The valve is capable of handling a capacity of up to 90 gpm (340 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It utilizes an adjustment range of up to 55 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open, ensuring precise control over the flow rate. The NFEDHHE model includes EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The installation requires a torque of 150 - 160 lbf ft (203 - 217 Nm), and it features a locknut torque specification of 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm). Weighing approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg), this needle valve is designed for robust performance in demanding hydraulic environments.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
