The Sun Hydraulics NFFCLGN (Material Number: NFFCLGN) is a versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. These valves offer fully adjustable orifices, allowing for infinite adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making them suitable as both flow controls and shutoff valves. They are non-pressure compensated, meaning the flow regulation is dependent on the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The valve features a balanced adjustment mechanism that facilitates easy adjustment even under high pressures, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes. The valve supports bidirectional flow, with the preferred path being from port 1 to port 2, ensuring interchangeability with other flow controls. This model is configured for a Cavity T-18A series 4 application, with a capacity of up to 60 gallons per minute (240 liters per minute) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The adjustment mechanism allows for up to 5.5 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to fully open. The valve's hex size is 1-5/8 inches (41.3 mm), requiring an installation torque between 350 to 375 lbf ft (474 to 508 Nm). It also includes an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm) for the adjustment screw and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm), which should be torqued between 80 to 90 lbf in (9 to 10 Nm). Weighing approximately 3 pounds (1.35 kg), this model comes with Viton seals as standard, although it can be configured with EPDM seals for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these are not compatible with petroleum-based fluids.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
