The Sun Hydraulics NFFCLHN (NFFCLHN) is a versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable orifice valve allows for infinite adjustment from a fully closed position to the maximum orifice diameter, offering flexibility in controlling flow rates. It is not pressure compensated, which means the flow regulation is dependent on the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2, following the square root relationship. The balanced adjustment mechanism ensures easy operation even under high-pressure conditions, while its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations due to changes in fluid viscosity. The bidirectional flow path favors port 1 to port 2 for interchangeability with other flow controls, and it ensures zero leakage when shut off. This needle valve fits into a Cavity T-18A and belongs to Series 4 with a capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min). It can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The adjustment range spans 5.5 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to fully open, facilitated by an internal hex adjustment screw size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The installation requires a torque between 350 and 375 lbf ft (474 - 508 Nm), with a locknut torque specification of 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm). The valve features EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluid systems but must avoid petroleum-based fluids to prevent seal damage. Weighing approximately 3 pounds (1.35 kg), this model includes Viton seal kit option number: 990018006 for enhanced durability and compatibility with various hydraulic fluids.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
- There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
