The Sun Hydraulics PBBBCAV (PBBBCAV) is a pilot-operated, pressure reducing valve designed for applications requiring the reduction of a high primary pressure at inlet port 2 to a constant, reduced pressure at port 1. This allows circuits with varying pressure requirements to be efficiently managed using a single pump. The valve features full reverse flow capability from the reduced pressure port back to the inlet, although this may cause the main spool to close. For applications needing reverse free flow, adding a separate check valve is advisable. The minimum setting for all spring ranges is 75 psi (5 bar), and the valve exhibits exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics, ensuring stability and low hysteresis. It can handle pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) at port 3, which are directly additive to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio. Incorporating Sun's floating style construction minimizes potential internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. The valve\u2019s cavity is T-163A Series 0 with a capacity of 5 gpm (20 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established with blocked control ports. Maximum operating pressure is rated at 5000 psi (350 bar), and control pilot flow ranges from 7-10 in\u00b3/min (0.11-0.16 L/min). The adjustment mechanism requires approximately five clockwise turns to increase settings, with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments provided for precise setup. This model weighs .30 lb (.15 kg) and uses Viton seals for optimal performance in various conditions. It suits applications where precise pressure regulation is necessary, offering moderate speed and ease of adjustment while maintaining robust performance under demanding conditions.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
