The Sun Hydraulics PBBBCNV (PBBBCNV) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to manage high primary pressures, reducing them to a consistent lower pressure at the outlet port. This functionality allows for circuits with varying pressure requirements to operate efficiently using a single pump. Notably, the valve features exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics, offering stability and low hysteresis. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal component binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity or cartridge. The valve can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a control pilot flow rate between 7-10 cubic inches per minute (0.11-0.16 liters per minute). It is adjustable, with five clockwise turns increasing the setting, and it requires an installation torque of 20-25 lbf-ft (27-33 Nm). The minimum setting starts at 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges, and it is essential to ensure that the pressure at port 3 does not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar), as this directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Additionally, if reverse free flow is necessary in the circuit design, incorporating a separate check valve is recommended since reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 back to inlet port 2 may cause the main spool to close. The model weighs approximately .30 lbs (.15 kg) and uses Viton seals for cartridge applications.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
