The Sun Hydraulics PBBBKAV (PBBBKAV) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to maintain a constant reduced pressure at port 1 from a higher primary pressure at inlet port 2. This valve is suitable for circuits requiring multiple pressures from a single pump, offering stable performance with low hysteresis and exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics. A minimum setting of 75 psi is required across all spring ranges, and the valve can handle maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi. It features Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve has a capacity of 5 gpm and incorporates several adjustment options, including clockwise turns to increase the setting and specific torque requirements for installation. Additionally, it is important to note that full reverse flow from port 1 to port 2 may cause the main spool to close; thus, incorporating a separate check valve in circuits requiring reverse free flow is advisable. The PBBBKAV model also allows for pressure at port 3 to be directly additive to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio, although it should not exceed the maximum specified pressure.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
