The Sun Hydraulics PBBBKQV (PBBBKQV) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to manage high primary pressure at the inlet port 2 and maintain a constant reduced pressure at port 1. This functionality allows for the operation of circuits with varying pressure requirements using a single pump. The valve features full reverse flow capability from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2, though this may cause the main spool to close; therefore, incorporating a separate check valve in the circuit is recommended if reverse free flow is needed. The minimum setting for all spring ranges is 75 psi (5 bar). These valves are noted for their exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics, stability, and low hysteresis. Pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum allowable pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The Sun floating style construction is employed to minimize internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The valve fits into Cavity T-163A and has a series capacity of 5 gpm (20 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established with the control port dead-headed. The maximum operating pressure is rated at 5000 psi (350 bar), with control pilot flow ranging from 7 to 10 in\u00b3/min (0.11 to 0.16 L/min). Adjustment can be made by turning clockwise up to five turns, and it includes specific hex sizes for various components: valve hex size is 3/4 inch (19.1 mm), adjustment screw internal hex size is 5/32 inch (4 mm), and locknut hex size is 1/2 inch (12.7 mm). The locknut torque ranges from 80 to 90 lbf-in (9 to 10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .30 lb (.15 kg) and uses Viton seal kits identified as part number 990163006.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
