The Sun Hydraulics PBBBKWV (PBBBKWV) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to manage high primary pressures at the inlet port 2 by reducing them to a constant, lower pressure at port 1. This functionality allows for the operation of circuits with varying pressure requirements utilizing a single pump. It features exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics, ensuring stability and low hysteresis, making it suitable for applications where precise pressure control is critical. The valve can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a factory-established minimum setting of 75 psi (5 bar) across all spring ranges. The PBBBKWV incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge manufacturing. This construction enhances reliability and ease of installation. The valve also allows full reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2, although this may cause the main spool to close; thus, adding a separate check valve is recommended if reverse free flow is necessary. Additional specifications include a control pilot flow range of 7-10 in³/min (0.11-0.16 L/min), an adjustment screw with internal hex size of 5/32 in (4 mm), and an installation torque requirement between 20-25 lbf·ft (27-33 Nm). The locknut hex size is 1/2 in (12.7 mm), with a torque specification of 80-90 lbf·in (9-10 Nm). With these features, the Sun Hydraulics PBBBKWV offers robust performance for demanding hydraulic systems requiring reliable and adjustable pressure reduction capabilities.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
