The Sun Hydraulics PBBBLAV (PBBBLAV) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to manage hydraulic circuits with varying pressure requirements using a single pump. This valve reduces high primary pressure at inlet port 2 to maintain a constant reduced pressure at port 1. It features an exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristic, providing stability and low hysteresis. The valve operates effectively up to a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 5 gpm (20 L/min). The minimum setting for all spring ranges is 75 psi (5 bar). The PBBBLAV incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. If reverse free flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2 is required, it is recommended to add a separate check valve in the circuit, as full reverse flow may cause the main spool to close. The valve includes several adjustable components: an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm), requiring up to five clockwise turns to increase the setting; and a locknut with a hex size of 1/2 inch (12.7 mm), which should be torqued between 80 and 90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). The valve installation torque ranges from 20 to 25 lbf-ft (27-33 Nm), and its model weight is approximately .30 lb (.15 kg). This product is suitable for applications requiring precise control over hydraulic pressures and can accommodate additional pressure at port 3 directly additive to the valve setting at a ratio of 1:1, not exceeding the maximum limit.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
