The Sun Hydraulics PBBBLNV (PBBBLNV) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to manage high primary pressures at the inlet port, reducing them to a constant, lower pressure at port 1. This allows circuits with varying pressure requirements to operate effectively using a single pump. The valve features a cavity T-163A and has a capacity of 5 gpm (20 L/min). It incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal part binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. The valve is capable of handling maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and features an adjustment range facilitated by 5.5 clockwise turns to increase settings. The PBBBLNV model exhibits exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics, ensuring stability and low hysteresis in its operations. Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio but should not exceed the maximum threshold of 5000 psi (350 bar). If reverse free flow is necessary from port 1 back to inlet port 2, it is advisable to integrate an additional check valve into the circuit as full reverse flow may cause the main spool closure. Installation requires specific torques: the valve hex size measures 3/4 inch (19.1 mm) with an installation torque between 20 - 25 lbf ft (27 - 33 Nm), while the locknut torque ranges from 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm). For sealing purposes, Viton seal kits are available under cartridge code: 990163006. This valve's design ensures moderate speed with easy adjustability, making it ideal for applications requiring precise pressure regulation without compromising reliability or performance efficiency.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.

  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
