The Sun Hydraulics PBBBLQV (PBBBLQV) is a pilot-operated, pressure-reducing valve designed to manage high primary pressures at the inlet port 2, reducing them to a consistent lower pressure at port 1. This allows for efficient operation of circuits with varied pressure requirements using a single pump. If reverse free flow is necessary in the circuit, a separate check valve should be considered to prevent the main spool from closing during full reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2. The valve features a minimum setting of 75 psi for all spring ranges and exhibits exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics, ensuring stability and low hysteresis. The pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum limit of 5000 psi. The Sun floating style construction reduces the risk of internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The PBBBLQV fits into cavity T-163A and has a capacity of 5 gpm (20 L/min). It operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi and requires an installation torque between 20-25 lbf ft. Control pilot flow ranges from 7-10 in\u00b3/min, with adjustments made via an internal hex screw. The locknut requires a torque of 80-90 lbf in for secure adjustments. Weighing approximately .30 lb (0.15 kg), this model also includes Viton seals for enhanced durability. It is important to note that while direct-acting valves prevent overpressure, pilot-operated valves like this one regulate it efficiently, making them suitable for applications requiring moderate speed and ease of adjustment in hydraulic systems.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.

  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
