The Sun Hydraulics PBHFLCN (Material Number: PBHFLCN) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to manage high primary pressures at the inlet port 2 and reduce them to a consistent lower pressure at port 1. This capability allows it to support circuits with varying pressure needs using just one pump. The valve features a main stage orifice integrated into the piston, enhancing its durability in demanding applications. It is compatible with all three-port pressure reducing and reducing-relieving cartridges, sharing the same flow path and cavity size for a given frame size. When configuring mounting setups, it is advisable to utilize the full capacity return line port 3 with reducing-relieving cartridges. Reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 back to inlet port 2 may cause the main spool to close; hence, incorporating an additional check valve may be necessary for circuits requiring reverse free flow. The recommended maximum inlet pressure varies by adjustment range: D, E, N, and Q ranges are tested up to a 2000 psi differential; A, B, and H ranges up to 3000 psi; and C and W ranges up to 5000 psi. Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.

  • These valves have the main stage orifice drilled into the piston rather than a staked-in orifice. This allows the valve to survive physically demanding applications.
  • All three-port pressure reducing and reducing/relieving cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). When considering mounting configurations, it is sometimes recommended that a full capacity return line (port 3) be used with reducing/relieving cartridges.
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
