The Sun Hydraulics PBJBKDV (PBJBKDV) is a pilot-operated, pressure reducing valve designed to effectively manage high primary pressures at inlet port 2, reducing them to a consistent lower pressure at port 1. This functionality is ideal for circuits requiring multiple pressure levels operated by a single pump. The valve's design allows for physical interchangeability among all three-port pressure reducing and reducing-relieving cartridges, sharing the same flow path and cavity size for a given frame. For certain mounting configurations, it is advisable to use a full capacity return line at port 3 with reducing-relieving cartridges. Reverse flow from the reduced pressure port back to the inlet may result in spool closure; thus, incorporating an additional check valve might be necessary if reverse free flow is needed. This valve features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and supports maximum inlet pressures based on specific adjustment ranges: up to 2000 psi for ranges D, E, N, and Q; up to 3000 psi for ranges A, B, and H; and up to 5000 psi for ranges C and W. Pilot-operated, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, allowing circuits with multiple pressure requirements to be operated using a single pump.
- All three-port pressure reducing and reducing/relieving cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). When considering mounting configurations, it is sometimes recommended that a full capacity return line (port 3) be used with reducing/relieving cartridges.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.

- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
