The Sun Hydraulics PBJBWEV (Material Number: PBJBWEV) is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve designed to efficiently manage high primary pressure at the inlet port 2, reducing it to a constant, lower pressure at port 1. This allows circuits with varying pressure needs to operate using a single pump. The valve features a three-port design and is interchangeable with other reducing and relieving cartridges of the same frame size, providing versatility in mounting configurations. For optimal performance, especially when reverse flow is required from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2, it is advisable to integrate a separate check valve into the circuit. The PBJBWEV valve is equipped with a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and can handle maximum inlet pressures based on adjustment ranges: Ranges D, E, N, and Q support up to 2000 psi; A, B, and H up to 3000 psi; while C and W can manage up to 5000 psi. These pilot-operated valves are known for their stable operation with low hysteresis and flat pressure-flow characteristics but are not fast-acting; hence direct-acting valves are recommended for superior dynamic response. Additionally, the construction minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations.   • All three-port pressure reducing and reducing/relieving cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). When considering mounting configurations, it is sometimes recommended that a full capacity return line (port 3) be used with reducing/relieving cartridges.
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • If pilot flow consumption is critical, consider using direct acting reducing/relieving valves.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure.
