The Sun Hydraulics PBJBYQV (PBJBYQV) is a pilot-operated, pressure-reducing valve designed to decrease a high primary pressure at inlet port 2 to a consistent reduced pressure at port 1. This functionality enables circuits with varying pressure requirements to operate using a single pump. The valve is part of Sun\u2019s three-port pressure reducing and reducing-relieving cartridge series, which are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size. It is recommended to use a full capacity return line at port 3 for reducing-relieving cartridges. For circuits requiring free reverse flow from port 1 to port 2, an additional check valve may be necessary. The main stage orifice features a protective 150-micron stainless steel screen, and the maximum inlet pressure depends on the adjustment range, with ranges A, B, and H tested up to 3000 psi (210 bar), ranges D, E, N, and Q up to 2000 psi (140 bar), and ranges C and W up to 5000 psi (350 bar).   • All three-port pressure reducing and reducing/relieving cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). When considering mounting configurations, it is sometimes recommended that a full capacity return line (port 3) be used with reducing/relieving cartridges.
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • If pilot flow consumption is critical, consider using direct acting reducing/relieving valves.
