The Sun Hydraulics PPFDLDV (PPFDLDV) is a pilot-operated, pressure reducing-relieving valve designed to maintain a constant reduced pressure at port 1 from a higher primary pressure at inlet port 2, while offering full-flow relief from port 1 to tank port 3. This valve features a .020 inch diameter bleed orifice between the reduced pressure and tank, enhancing its responsiveness during sudden flow demands. The valve setting is directly influenced by the pressure at port 3, which should not exceed 3000 psi. The recommended maximum inlet pressure varies with adjustment ranges: D, E, N, and Q are tested with a maximum differential of 2000 psi; A, B, and H with up to 3000 psi; C and W with an inlet pressure of up to 5000 psi. Known for its stable performance and low hysteresis due to its pilot-operated design, this valve is physically interchangeable within Sun\u2019s three-port cartridge range. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding from installation torque or machining variations. The PPFDLDV can handle a capacity of up to 20 gpm and operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi. The control pilot flow ranges between 10-15 in\u00b3/min. It requires specific installation torques: the valve hex size is 1-1/8 inches requiring torque between 45-50 lbf-ft; the locknut hex size is 9/16 inch needing torque between 80-90 lbf-in. For adjustments, it uses an internal hex screw size of 5/32 inches. Additionally, it supports reverse flow from reduced pressure port back to inlet but may require an additional check valve if free reverse flow is needed in the circuit. This product weighs approximately .60 lbs and includes options for Viton seal kits for enhanced durability under various conditions.

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3).

  • This valve incorporates a .020 (0,51 mm) in. diameter bleed orifice between the reduced pressure and tank. This biases the valve into a reducing mode in a dead headed condition which helps the valve respond to a sudden call for flow.
  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • All three-port pressure reducing and reducing/relieving cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). When considering mounting configurations, it is sometimes recommended that a full capacity return line (port 3) be used with reducing/relieving cartridges.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
