The Sun Hydraulics PPJBCNN (PPJBCNN) is a pilot-operated, pressure reducing-relieving valve designed to manage high primary pressures at the inlet port 2 and maintain a consistent reduced pressure at port 1, while offering a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. This valve is engineered for applications requiring stable pressure control with maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It is not intended for fast-acting scenarios; for such needs, direct acting valves are recommended. The PPJBCNN valve features exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics and low hysteresis, making it highly stable. It supports full reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2; however, if reverse free flow is necessary, a separate check valve should be integrated into the circuit. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize potential internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The PPJBCNN is adaptable with all three-port pressure reducing and relieving cartridges being physically interchangeable within the same frame size. It includes factory pressure settings established at blocked control ports and has an adjustment range defined by the number of clockwise turns needed to increase the setting. The recommended maximum inlet pressures vary based on adjustment ranges: D, E, N, and Q ranges are tested with up to a 2000 psi differential, whereas A, B, and H ranges can handle up to a 3000 psi differential. This model also includes specific installation requirements: Valve Hex Size of 1-5/8 inches (41.3 mm), Valve Installation Torque between 350-375 lbf ft (474-508 Nm), Adjustment Screw Internal Hex Size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), Locknut Hex Size of 9/16 inches (15 mm), and Locknut Torque between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). Pilot-operated, pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3).

  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Pilot operated reducing, reducing/relieving valves by nature are not fast acting valves. For superior dynamic response, consider direct acting valves.
  • Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure.
