The Sun Hydraulics PPJFCAV (PPJFCAV) is a pilot-operated, pressure-reducing/relieving valve designed to manage high primary pressures by reducing them to a constant lower pressure with a full-flow relief function. This valve features a main stage orifice drilled into the piston, enhancing its durability for demanding applications. It is recommended that the maximum pressure at port 3 be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar), as this pressure is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The PPJFCAV model is not fast-acting due to its pilot-operated nature; for superior dynamic response, direct-acting valves are suggested. The maximum inlet pressure varies with adjustment ranges: D, E, N, and Q are tested with up to 2000 psi (140 bar) differential; A, B, and H with up to 3000 psi (210 bar); and C and W with up to 5000 psi (350 bar). These valves offer stable performance with low hysteresis and flat pressure-flow characteristics. If reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2 is needed, an additional check valve should be considered since full reverse flow may close the main spool. For applications where pilot flow consumption is critical, direct-acting valves might be preferable. The PPJFCAV utilizes Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 80 gpm (320 L/min), factory settings are established at blocked control ports. The maximum operating pressure reaches up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and features an adjustable control pilot flow ranging from 15\u201320 in\u00b3/min (0.25\u20130.33 L/min).

Pilot-operated, pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3).

  • These valves have the main stage orifice drilled into the piston rather than a staked-in orifice. This allows the valve to survive physically demanding applications.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
