The Sun Hydraulics PRFRCEE (Material Number: PRFRCEE) is a direct-acting pressure reducing valve designed to reduce high primary pressure at inlet port 2 to a consistent lower pressure at port 1. This valve features a damped construction that ensures stable operation, enabling the use of high reduced pressure. It is important to note that this valve lacks relieving capability and should not be used in deadheaded applications, as the pressure on the reduced side may rise significantly if there is very low leakage. The PRR type valve serves as an excellent replacement for an LPC as a normally open, restrictive compensating element when a higher pressure drop across an orifice is required. The cartridges with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but can be damaged by petroleum-based fluids. For circuits requiring reverse free flow from port 1 to port 2, adding a separate check valve is recommended since reverse flow may cause the main spool to close. This model supports accumulator circuits due to its absence of pilot control flow, which reduces secondary circuit leakage. With superior dynamic response compared to pilot-operated models, this direct operated version performs efficiently under demanding conditions. The maximum operating pressure should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar), and the valve exhibits minimal leakage proportional to pressure differential and inversely proportional to viscosity. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal part binding from excessive installation torque or cavity machining variations. Factory settings are established at 2 in/min (30 cc/min), with adjustment capabilities through five clockwise turns for increasing settings and specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments.

Direct-acting, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1. These valves incorporate a damped construction for stable operation allowing the use of high reduced pressure.

  • Note: This valve has no relieving capability. It should not be used in a dead-headed application. If the reduced pressure side of the circuit has very low leakage the pressure may rise significantly. The pressure rise will vary from valve to valve.
  • This type of valve, PR*R, is a good replacement for an LP*C as a normally open, restrictive compensating element if a higher pressure drop across an orifice is needed.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • All spring ranges are tested for correct operation with 5000 psi (350 bar) inlet pressure.
