The Sun Hydraulics PRFRLBV (Material Number: PRFRLBV) is a direct-acting pressure reducing valve designed to efficiently reduce a high primary pressure at inlet port 2 to a consistent lower pressure at port 1. This valve's damped construction ensures stable operation, even when utilizing high reduced pressures. It is important to note that this model lacks relieving capability and should not be used in deadheaded applications, as very low leakage on the reduced pressure side can cause significant pressure increases. The PRFRLBV serves as an excellent replacement for an LPC valve when a normally open, restrictive compensating element is necessary for higher pressure drops across an orifice. The valve is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids due to its EPDM seals; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids will damage these seals. It allows full reverse flow from port 1 to port 2 but may require an additional check valve if reverse free flow is needed in the circuit. Its design incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing the risk of internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations. Direct-acting, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1. These valves incorporate a damped construction for stable operation allowing the use of high reduced pressure.
- Note: This valve has no relieving capability. It should not be used in a dead-headed application. If the reduced pressure side of the circuit has very low leakage the pressure may rise significantly. The pressure rise will vary from valve to valve.
- This type of valve, PR*R, is a good replacement for an LP*C as a normally open, restrictive compensating element if a higher pressure drop across an orifice is needed.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
