The Sun Hydraulics PRJRCEN (PRJRCEN) is a direct-acting, pressure-reducing valve designed to lower a high primary pressure at the inlet port 2 to a consistent reduced pressure at port 1. This valve features a damped construction for stable operation and supports high reduced pressure usage. Notably, the PRJRCEN model lacks relieving capability and is not suitable for deadheaded applications, as low leakage in the reduced pressure side may lead to significant pressure increases. It serves as an effective replacement for an LPC valve when a normally open, restrictive compensating element with a higher pressure drop across an orifice is needed. The valve allows full reverse flow from port 1 to port 2, but this may close the main spool; thus, adding a separate check valve is recommended if reverse free flow is required in the circuit. The PRJRCEN model is suitable for accumulator circuits due to its absence of pilot control flow, which reduces secondary circuit leakage. Its direct-operated design offers superior dynamic response compared to pilot-operated models. Pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar). Direct-acting, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1. These valves incorporate a damped construction for stable operation allowing the use of high reduced pressure.

  • Note: This valve has no relieving capability. It should not be used in a dead-headed application. If the reduced pressure side of the circuit has very low leakage the pressure may rise significantly. The pressure rise will vary from valve to valve.
  • This type of valve, PR*R, is a good replacement for an LP*C as a normally open, restrictive compensating element if a higher pressure drop across an orifice is needed.
