The Sun Hydraulics PRJRKWV (PRJRKWV) is a direct-acting pressure reducing valve designed to reduce high primary pressure at the inlet port to a consistent reduced pressure at port 1. This valve features a damped construction that ensures stable operation, even when utilizing high reduced pressures. Notably, it does not have relieving capability and should not be used in deadheaded applications, as low leakage on the reduced pressure side can cause significant pressure increases. The PRR type valve serves as an effective replacement for an LPC as a normally open, restrictive compensating element when a higher pressure drop across an orifice is required. While full reverse flow from the reduced pressure port to the inlet port may close the main spool, adding a separate check valve can facilitate reverse free flow if needed. With all spring ranges tested for correct operation at 5000 psi inlet pressure, this valve is suitable for accumulator circuits due to its reduced secondary circuit leakage from the absence of pilot control flow. The direct-operated version offers superior dynamic response compared to pilot-operated models. Pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, not exceeding 5000 psi. - Note: This valve has no relieving capability. It should not be used in a dead-headed application. If the reduced pressure side of the circuit has very low leakage the pressure may rise significantly. The pressure rise will vary from valve to valve.
