The Sun Hydraulics PSHBLSV (PSHBLSV) is a direct-acting pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to maintain a consistent reduced pressure at port 1 while featuring a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. This valve includes a draining port 4, which helps make it insensitive to pressure at port 3, ensuring stable operation even with high reduced pressures. It is suitable for accumulator circuits due to its design that minimizes leakage in secondary circuits by eliminating pilot control flow. The direct-acting mechanism offers reliable performance in contaminated systems, especially in dead-headed conditions, and provides superior dynamic response compared to pilot-operated models. The PSHBLSV valve features a transitional step between reducing and relieving modes, which is approximately 5% of the high end of the adjustment range. However, this characteristic may not suit counterbalancing applications. The valve's effective setting can be increased by controlling the pressure at drain port 4. For reverse free flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2, an additional check valve might be necessary to prevent the main spool from closing unexpectedly. The PSHBLSV model has factory-established settings for blocked control ports and features adjustments through clockwise turns with specific hex sizes for installation torque and locknut adjustments.

Direct-acting, pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). Draining port 4 makes the valve insensitive to pressure at port 3. These valves incorporate a damped construction for stable operation allowing the use of high reduced pressure.
