The Sun Hydraulics PVDDCNV (Material Number: PVDDCNV) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to maintain a constant reduced pressure at port 1 while offering a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. It features a unique design where the main stage orifice is drilled into the piston, enhancing its durability for physically demanding applications. The valve's vent port, port 4, allows for remote control via pilot or two-way valves. The pressure at port 3 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar). This model is capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) depending on the adjustment range, with exceptional stability and low hysteresis in its operation. The PVDDCNV incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. For applications requiring reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2, it's recommended to add a separate check valve as the main spool may close under such conditions. The valve exhibits very low deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes and has exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics. Key specifications include a cavity T-21A series with a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min), maximum operating pressures of up to 5000 psi (350 bar), and control pilot flow ranging from 7-10 in\u00b3/min (0.11-0.16 L/min). The valve also features an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 in (4 mm) and requires an installation torque of between 30-35 lbf\u00b7ft (41-47 Nm).

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.

  • These valves have the main stage orifice drilled into the piston rather than a staked-in orifice. This allows the valve to survive physically demanding applications.
  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
  • Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
  • By controlling the pressure at the vent (port 4), the effective setting of the valve can be controlled below the nominal valve setting.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
