The Sun Hydraulics PVHBCDV (PVHBCDV) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to manage high primary pressure at the inlet, ensuring a consistent reduced pressure at port 1, while offering full-flow relief from port 1 to tank port 3. This valve features a vent port (port 4) for remote control via pilot or two-way valves. The pressure at port 3 directly adds to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum allowable pressure of 3000 psi (210 bar). The valve is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals; exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. Pilot-operated design ensures minimal deadband between reducing and relieving modes and maintains stable performance with low hysteresis. The recommended maximum inlet pressure varies by adjustment range: D, E, N, and Q handle up to a 2000 psi differential; A, B, and H up to 3000 psi; and C and W up to 5000 psi. Full reverse flow may close the main spool; incorporating a check valve is advisable if reverse free flow is necessary. Adjusting the vent port pressure allows control below the nominal setting. Sun's floating style construction reduces internal part binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. Key specifications include a T-23A cavity series with a capacity of 40 gpm (160 L/min), maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), control pilot flow of 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min), and specified installation torques for various components.

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
  • Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • By controlling the pressure at the vent (port 4), the effective setting of the valve can be controlled below the nominal valve setting.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
