The Sun Hydraulics PVHBCJV (PVHBCJV) is a versatile ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to efficiently reduce high primary pressure at the inlet to a consistent reduced pressure at port 1, while providing a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. This model allows for remote control via the vent port 4 using pilot or two-way valves, offering flexibility in various applications. The valve features a direct additive pressure setting at port 3 that should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar). It is important to note that cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but can be damaged by petroleum-based fluids. The valve exhibits low deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes and offers exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics with high stability and low hysteresis. The PVHBCJV is tested across different adjustment ranges, with maximum inlet pressures of up to 5000 psi (350 bar) depending on the range. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The valve supports full reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2; however, if reverse free flow is necessary, a separate check valve should be considered. By controlling the vent port pressure, users can adjust the effective setting below the nominal value. This model has a cavity T-23A series with a capacity of up to 40 gpm (160 L/min) and factory settings established at blocked control ports. It supports maximum operating pressures of up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and features an internal hex adjustment screw for easy setting modifications. With its robust design and reliable performance, the PVHBCJV is suitable for demanding hydraulic systems requiring precise pressure regulation and relief capabilities.

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
- Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- By controlling the pressure at the vent (port 4), the effective setting of the valve can be controlled below the nominal valve setting.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
