The Sun Hydraulics PVHDCWV (PVHDCWV) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to manage high primary pressures by reducing them to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, while providing a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. This valve features a vent port (port 4) that facilitates remote control through pilot or two-way valves. Unlike conventional designs, the main stage orifice is drilled into the piston instead of being staked-in, enhancing its durability for demanding applications. The valve setting is directly influenced by the pressure at port 3 in a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum allowable pressure of 3000 psi (210 bar). The PVHDCWV exhibits minimal deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes and maintains exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics with high stability and low hysteresis. This model supports full reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2, although this may cause the main spool to close; hence, incorporating a separate check valve might be necessary if reverse free flow is needed.
