The Sun Hydraulics PVJC8DN (PVJC8DN) is a highly specialized 3-way, normally open modulating valve designed for precise pressure control in demanding applications. This valve features an externally drained design and incorporates an integral pilot control cavity compatible with T8A pressure control cartridges, which are available separately in various operational modes such as electro-proportional, solenoid, air pilot, and hydraulic pilot. The PVJC8DN reduces high primary pressures at inlet port 2 to a consistent reduced pressure at port 1 while providing a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. The difference in pressure between reduced pressure port 1 and drain port 4 is determined by the setting of the pilot cartridge. Its construction includes a main stage orifice drilled directly into the piston, allowing it to withstand physically demanding environments. This model supports a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar) with exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics, low hysteresis, and stability. The maximum allowable pressure at port 3 is limited to 3000 psi (210 bar), while the drain port should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar). Additionally, the valve's design helps minimize the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This valve is a 3-way, normally open modulating element, externally drained, that incorporates an integral pilot control cavity. The pilot control cavity will accept any T-8A pressure control cartridge. The valve reduces a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The pilot cartridge's setting determines the difference in pressure between reduced pressure (port 1) and the drain (port 4).

  • These valves have the main stage orifice drilled into the piston rather than a staked-in orifice. This allows the valve to survive physically demanding applications.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
