The Sun Hydraulics PVJDCAV (PVJDCAV) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing-relieving valve designed to efficiently manage high primary pressure by reducing it to a constant lower pressure at port 1, while also providing full-flow relief from port 1 to tank port 3. This valve features a vent port (port 4) that allows for remote control through pilot or two-way valves. It operates with exceptional stability and low hysteresis, thanks to its pilot-operated design which offers a very low deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes. The valve supports maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and is characterized by exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics. The PVJDCAV model incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity or cartridge. The valve's performance is influenced by the adjustment range; ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a maximum differential of 2000 psi (140 bar), while ranges A, B, and H accommodate up to 3000 psi (210 bar), and ranges C and W handle up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The recommended inlet pressures are determined by these adjustment ranges. Additionally, the PVJDCAV offers easy control over the effective setting by adjusting the pressure at vent port 4 below its nominal setting. This model requires specific installation torques: valve installation torque is between 350 - 375 lbf ft (474 - 508 Nm), locknut torque is between 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm), with adjustment screw internal hex size being ^5\u204432 in. Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Pilot operated reducing, reducing/relieving valves by nature are not fast acting valves. For superior dynamic response, consider direct acting valves.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
  • Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure.
