The Sun Hydraulics PVJDKDN (PVJDKDN) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to efficiently manage hydraulic systems by reducing high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1. It also features a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. The vent port, port 4, allows for remote control via pilot or two-way valves, providing versatile control options. This valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and is suitable for applications requiring stable and low hysteresis performance. It showcases exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics and minimal deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes, making it highly reliable in maintaining desired pressure settings. The valve's effective setting can be controlled below its nominal setting by adjusting the pressure at the vent port. Constructed with Sun's floating style design, it minimizes the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. The PVJDKDN valve is tested with various maximum differential pressures depending on the adjustment range; ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a maximum differential of 2000 psi (140 bar), while ranges A, B, and H are tested with up to 3000 psi (210 bar). Ranges C and W accommodate up to 5000 psi (350 bar) inlet pressure. With a capacity of 80 gpm (320 L/min), this Series 4 cartridge valve provides robust control in demanding hydraulic environments. Installation specifications include a valve hex size of 1-5/8 inches (41.3 mm) and an installation torque range of 350-375 lbf-ft (474-508 Nm).

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
- Pilot operated reducing, reducing/relieving valves by nature are not fast acting valves. For superior dynamic response, consider direct acting valves.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
- Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- By controlling the pressure at the vent (port 4), the effective setting of the valve can be controlled below the nominal valve setting.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
